Collection: Satellite Compass

A satellite compass, or GNSS compass, measures true heading from the signals received by two or more GNSS antennas. It needs no settling time, is not affected by magnetism, and also outputs position, speed, rate of turn and attitude, which makes it a common heading source for radar, ECDIS, AIS and autopilots and a backup to the gyro compass.

For SOLAS ships we supply the FLIR R6 NAV PRO COMPASS, a type-approved dual-antenna DGNSS compass with multi-frequency reception and built-in jamming and spoofing detection. The COMPASS+ adds the I6 IMU to hold heading and attitude through GNSS outages, and the R6 NAV NEO adds the units needed for Panama Canal approval as a Non-Portable Piloting Unit.

For workboats, fishing vessels and yachts we carry the Simrad HS75 GNSS compass and the Marinelite SC90, SC120 and GC20 satellite compasses, and the Furuno SC series is available on request. Email sales@smartmarine.ee for help choosing a heading sensor for your bridge.
