Multi Function Display - MFD - is the core of the system, and comes in different sizes. It is from here that all the sensors send their signals to and from here that the control is performed. However, for larger systems, a Black Box solution can be made, where it is a computer box (hidden away in a convenient place) that is the brain of the system, and the MFDs will simply act as repeater displays / control panels.
